The calcium carbonate within your hot tub is softened and slowly removed by the flow of water over it. This erosion process then exposes any corrosion bacteria which may be present beneath the scale. The silver ions destroy these bacteria on contact and prevent mutation of resistant strains. These contaminants are then removed by draining your hot tub water during the decontamination process. simplesilver™ then coats your hot tub with a fine film of silicon. Due to its electrical charge, this silicon film repels and limits any calcium or magnesium salts from adhering to the spa.
